BackgroundAnn Clwyd (b 1937), was elected as MP for the Cynon Valley (Labour) in 1984 and became the first woman to represent a South Wales Valleys' seat. She has been a Member of the House of Commons Select Committee on International Development, Chairman of the All-Party Group on Human Rights, and Joint Vice Chair on Portugal. The papers in this collection relate to her activities as a Member of the European Party for Mid and West Wales, during the 1980s.
