Background | Following the National Health Service Act 1946, Local Executive Councils were established which had responsibility for family practitioner services. These councils dealt with family doctors, dentists and pharmaceutical arrangements in their area. The county of Glamorgan was covered by three Councils, Cardiff, Glamorgan and Merthyr Tydfil. These Councils were successors to earlier Insurance Committees. |
