TitleLlanharan Estate, Records
BackgroundIn 1795, Llanharan House was purchased by Richard Hoare Jenkins of Pantynawel, Llangeinor (or Llangeinwyr), Glamorgan, for £11,000; he died in 1856, and the estate eventually passed to Colonel John Blandy-Jenkins (1839-1915) of Kingston Bagpuize, Oxfordshire. He lived at Tregroes House, Pencoed, Glamorgan, for a period, while his mother was in residence at Llanharan, and was involved in local administration and foxhunting; he served as chairman of the newly-formed Glamorgan County Council from 1895 to 1915. His second wife, later widow, Elizabeth Nora, kept the estate intact until her death in 1953.
