BackgroundThe Taylor family of Blaenavon travelled to Hughesovka in 1875. CharlesTaylor, a puddler, and his wife died in Russia, in 1887 and 1885 respectively. Their daughter, Mary Ann, married Thomas Caddick in 1886 at Taganrog. Thomas and his father George were nut and bolt makers. The Caddicks returned to Blaenavon, as did Mary Ann’s brother, William, who left Russia in 1890 at the age of 19.
