BackgroundRees Richards worked in the blast furnace department at Hughesovka. He took his wife, Charlotte, sons Henry and Richard and a young daughter with him to Russia. His daughter died soon after arrival. The surviving family settles in Middlesbrough after their return to Britain following Rees Richards’ death in about 1908. His father, also Rees, had worked for the Dowlais Iron Company.
